Sebasteion of Aphrodisias
The Sebasteion, excavated in 1979 is temple dedicated for Aphrodite and the Julio-Claudian emperors.
Its construction stretched over two generations, from AD 20 to 60, and that ranges from the reign of Tiberius to that of Nero.
Aphrodisias Theater
The Theater of the Aphrodisias city was built in the second half of the first century B.C on the eastern slope of the Acropolis.
This Theater had a capacity of 8000 seats with six dressing rooms and another four extra rooms.
The theater witnessed many plays, animal and gladiator fights over that era of the Roman Empire.
Agora
The Agora of Aphrodisias was the large public or market area in the northern part of the portico between the Temple of Aphrodite and the Acropolis.
You can say that the Agora was a special place for musical events. Also a place for public speeches and literature competitions as well, it was a place for exchanging ideas between the high class people of Aphrodisias city.
Tiberius Portico
The south portico at the Agora is known as the Portico of Tiberius, The emperor Tiberius ruled at 1C AD, and it was named after him.
The Ionic colonnade has been restored partly. There is a huge pool at the center of the portico, 175 m long, and 25 m wide and 1 m deep, it will surely be a great chance to visit these remarkable place at Aphrodisias.
Hadrian Baths of Aphrodisias
Named after the Emperor Hadrian, the Hadrian Bathes were such a significant public center designed for High class relaxation.
The Hadrian baths used to attract the most cultured and rich category of the people of that era at the Aphrodisias city.
Odeon
South of the temple of Aphrodite, you will have the chance to visit the 1700 person capacity concert hall “The Odeon”, it has 12 rows of seats, it also held the political meetings, presentations and shows at that time. The Odeon is also famous for the mosaics decorations of the stage and the orchestra.
Bishop Palace
Be lucky to check the Bishop Palace at Aphrodisias. It is a large Roman house in the middle of the ancient city, it is also close to the cathedral of Aphrodisias, and it shows the beauty of the architectural arts of the city.
Temple of Aphrodite
It is a fact that the Temple of Aphrodite was built 1 century BC, and it had a statue of the goddess that wears a long garment. One of her arms is stretched forward. The reliefs carved on the bands of the garment are very interesting.
The sun god and moon goddess, the Three Graces with Aphrodite in the middle, Aphrodite and three Cupids seated on a goat with the tail of a fish are all symbols which frequently appear on various copies of the cult statue.
Stadium
